Last Thursday, I went to the Theatre Royal in Brighton with my college class. What I saw at the theatre was beyond my expectations!
A theatre company called Kneehigh was putting on a show called ‘Dead Dog in A Suitcase’. I have to admit when I heard the title of the show I wasn’t very keen on it. I was thinking to myself “ who in their right state of mind would put a dog in a suitcase? Yet alone a DEAD one”. But I did what all of us do. I judged a book by its cover and was proved extremely wrong!
As soon as I sat in the auditorium, I turned to my friend and I said ‘WOW’. The set and the stage was beautiful. A fairly large metal structure that reminded me of the walls that you could climb in P.E lessons. A relatively big slide that the actors would slide down on and to top everything…. a live band !
The performance itself was absolutely ASTONISHING! So many unexpectable surprises and plot twists that had you stunned and amazed at the same time. Countless of moments where you would cry from laughter. A well paced climax that reached the peak right at the very end of the show with a humongous explosion on stage that caused your jaw to drop!
As a young actor, it was an absolute joy to watch an extraordinary performance such as this. It inspires me to entertain and bring joy into peoples lives.
If there is a chance to see this performance then I strongly recommend it to everyone!
