The Little Shop, tucked away in the upper section of Market Street, is a bit of an oddity. A dated British institution, the old fashioned cafe selling sandwiches at a reasonable price. There is also a breakfast option and what ticked my boxes was a selection of soups.
Why is it that in the depths of winter the best one can expect is the ubiquitous “soup of the day”? But here, tucked out of sight, in a lane, was a sandwich board proclaiming one has a choice of six different soups. I am not certain if they were all available on the same day.
I am afraid I forgot to ask.
There was also Welsh Rarebit and Sticky Rice & Mango. Would love to know how that last one got there.
In an area packed with and offering a huge selection of different take-away meals, real burgers, awesome toasties and the big chains all less than a minute away, this tiny sandwich bar is a welcome change.
